The 70th Four Hills Tournament will now take place completely without spectators.
On Thursday, the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) and the local organising committees in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen decided to do without fans in the stadiums. "We are aware of our responsibility and have therefore decided not to allow spectators at the next Nordic and Alpine World Cup events in Innsbruck, Bischofshofen, Flachau and Zauchensee. We regret this decision for the fans and athletes, but we want to support the government in its efforts as best we can," said ÖSV President Roswitha Stadlober.
Because of the spread of the coronavirus variant Omikron, the Austrian federal government had recently tightened the legal requirements once again. The organisers in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen had recently hoped for a limited crowd of up to 4,000 fans.
